When we talk about designing your company logo, it is important to determine rules in order to create quality work that you will be proud of.
Among the most important aspects, since there are many written and unwritten rules to create an identity, it is to take the essence of a brand, give it shape and color to make it enduring and generate the recognition it needs. Remember also that you will be creating the main link between your consumer and your brand; you are responsible for creating that first point of contact.
It is important to be aware that the image of a brand can become one of the main attributes for its communication, considering that there are people who do not drink coffee but recognize a green siren or have never used a computer but identify an apple with a bite. That is why I would like to share seven rules that can help you build and design your company logo.
RULE NUMBER 1
THINK BLACK AND WHITE
7 MIND BLOWING LOGO DESIGN TIPS
A logo should not depend on effects or colors. It must be effective and elegant in its natural form, and that is in a single solid color, which may be the color that is selected for the brand, but without a doubt it should be applied in black and white.
Consider color as a conceptual element of your image.
Red: Passion, excitation, intensity
Orange: Creativity, joviality
Yellow: Optimism, happiness
Purple: Compassion, delicacy, gentleness
Blue: Trust, security, wisdom
Green: Health, nature
Gray: Neutrality, calm
Black: Sophistication, simplicity
RULE NUMBER 2
RELEVANT AND APPROPRITATE
There is a world of typefaces out there, but as beautiful and elegant as a typeface is, it won’t work for a company that sells balloons. Find the appropriate form for your brand, and if it’s not out there, create it.
7 MIND BLOWING LOGO DESIGN TIPS
RULE NUMBER 3
SIMPLICITY FIRST
You have seconds to capture the attention of those who see a business card, a panoramic or any graphic material where you put your logo, complexity gets dirty, and above all it distracts, besides it is difficult to remember.
RULE NUMBER 4
MEMORABLE
The image that represents your brand must have a clear and effective effect, communicates what you are looking to communicate and be remembered for that simplicity that we comment, as well as for its originality.
RULE NUMBER 5
DON’T BE LITERAL
A logo should not necessarily show what a company does; remember that abstraction can help you make your image enduring; try not to show what you do, but who you are.
RULE NUMBER 6
GENERATE A CONCEPT
A well-developed idea is much easier to capture in a design. First think about what you want to represent, think of the brand, which it is, what it does, how it will do it. After you have a strong idea, then start designing.
RULE NUMBER 7
DO NOT FOLLOW TRENDS
As in everything, there are also trends in design, you might want to be fashionable and do the same thing everyone is doing, however, it is better that your logo is designed with your brand in mind and not based on what It is popular today, it works better with the passage of time and above all, it lasts.
